Microneedling

Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Percutaneous Collagen Induction Therapy or PCIT) is an innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s appearance. During this procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker dermis with the appearance of softer wrinkles. Automated micro-needling also creates superficial micro-channels, which allow topical serums and creams to be absorbed more effectively into the skin. Collagen P.I.N. is the most advanced medical-grade automated micro-needling device on the market.

Microneedling

How is the Procedure Performed?

A sterile needle-tip containing 36 tiny micro-needles is attached to the Collagen P.I.N. ™. Your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical serum to your skin and select the appropriate treatment depth based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the Collagen P.I.N. will be gently glided across the skin in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered. This results in thousands of microscopic channels throughout the entire treatment area.

  • Patients should request pre/post-care instructions and attempt to schedule with their regular general dermatologist.
  • Average Appointment Length with our Physicians for treatment: 30 minutes
  • Downtime: The patient can return to their daily activities immediately after treatment but may experience redness/swelling for several days.
  • For best results, three consecutive treatments should be performed four to six (4-6) weeks apart.

PRP for Hair Loss

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a treatment for patients with actively thinning, mild/moderate hair loss and should be used in combination with medications such as Monoxidil and Finasteride. It may take up to a year for a patient to determine if PRP is working for them. Bi-annual (every six months) treatments are typically recommended as a means of maintenance.

What can I expect during my PRP appointment?

  1. Blood will be drawn by one of our clinical staff.
  2. The blood will be processed in a centrifuge.
  3. The physician then removes a portion of the platelet poor plasma and discards, agitates the collection tube to re-suspend the platelets, and draws up the platelet rich plasma.
  4. Finally, the physician injects the patient’s scalp (any areas of hair loss or hair thinning) and will massage the scalp after the injections.

What results can be expected from PRP?

Look for results between six months to a year after treatment, with swelling and discomfort of the treated area subsiding after a day or two. Many factors can affect when results appear and how pronounced they are. These factors include your sex, age, hormonal balance, blood flow, and more.

Is PRP the right treatment option for me?

Schedule a hair loss appointment with one of our board certified dermatologists to discuss all treatment options and learn more about the PRP procedure.

Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels involve applying a chemical solution to remove the damaged outer layers of skin and reveal a younger, clearer, more radiant complexion.

There are different types of facial peels ranging from mild to deep depending on the severity of the skin conditions to be treated.

Chemical Peels are effective in treating:

  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles
  • Sun Damage
  • Age Spots
  • Freckling
  • Acne Scaring
  • Uneven Pigmentation

After treatment, your skin will look and feel softer, smoother, and more radiant.

The patient’s skin type, the condition being treated, and the patient’s tolerance for “downtime” are all considered in the selection of the right peel.

  • Average Appointment Length with our Nursing Staff: 15 minutes
  • Downtime: Mild to moderate redness and flaking can last several days. Deeper depth peels could result in 5-7 days of heavy shedding.

Blu-Light Therapy for Acne

Acne is caused by a plugging of pores with oil and an inflammatory response caused by bacteria. This painless treatment has been shown to decrease p. acnes, a bacteria found in the clogged pores, by 57% in just 4 treatments. Patients may also continue using most other medications prescribed by their physician.

  • Average Appointment Length with our Nursing Staff: 20 minutes
  • Downtime: Patients have no down time after therapy

Extractions

Injectables and Fillers

As we age, our skin changes. Over time, the natural volume of youthful skin begins to diminish as wrinkles and folds form. With injectables and fillers, you don’t have to just sit back and let it happen!

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a therapeutic muscle-relaxing agent derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Physicians have utilized BOTOX® Cosmetic for years as a cosmetic treatment to correct visible signs of stress and aging.

The contractions and movements of the facial muscles are controlled by signals from nearby nerves. BOTOX® Cosmetic simply prevents the muscle from allowing responses to these messages. As a result, the muscle relaxes and the overlying skin remains unwrinkled and smooth.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a simple procedure whereby a sclerosing agent is injected into your leg veins using a series of micro-injections. Approximately one injection is administered for every inch of spider vein. As the procedure continues, you will feel small needle sticks and possibly a mild burning sensation which most patients find tolerable. The solution causes the veins to collapse and fade from view. The faded veins become scar tissue that are eventually absorbed by your body.

Sclerotherapy is highly effective with most patients experiencing significant, long-lasting reduction in the visibility of their spider veins. However, sclerotherapy can only treat existing spider veins, and does not prevent new ones from developing. Generally two or more treatments are recommended depending on the scope and severity of your condition.

Average Appointment Length with our Physician: 30 minutes

Downtime: Immediately after treatment most patients experience mild bruising or discoloration that can last a week or two. It is recommended that you wear support hose for approximately one week following treatment. Walking and moderate exercise also aid in recovery.
